26 or 10 by 10

I hope all of you Chicago fans liked my creative title for this post!

Ok, moving is over...for now. We loaded all of our junk into a 26' U-haul, drove it to Brookhaven, and then crammed it into a 10x10 mini storage. I'm pretty sure most of our fragile stuff is now broken, but at least it's out of Oxford!

Since this blog is supposed to be about our marriage, I'll tell you the good and bad about moving with Austin - my husband of TEN MONTHS (whoa time flies).

First of all, it was my job to book the U-haul and rent the storage unit. I started with U-haul. Being the the smart spender that I am (not to toot my own horn or anything), I called around, looked on line, used my brain, and got the best deal I could. I decided we would need a 24' truck because of how much junk we have, and because - as I like to say - better safe than sorry.

After booking the U-haul I called Austin and told him of my progress. He told me that I could have found a better deal, and that we did not need a 24' truck, instead we should use a 17' truck. I told him I didn't think that would work, and went out to look at a 17' truck just to be sure. It looked way too small, so I went w/ the 24 footer. When we actually went to pick the truck up in Oxford, they didn't have a 24', so they gave us a 26' for the same price. After practically filling the 26' truck, I heard more than one person say "good thing they didn't get a smaller truck"! I hate to say I told you so.....ok, no I don't. :) I love being right!

After Austin skillfully drove the massive truck down I-55 to B'haven, we got a good night's sleep before fitting all of our crap like a puzzle into the 10x10 storage unit. I honestly didn't think it would all fit. (We did have to bring 3 chairs, a trunk and a rubbermaid bin to my parents' house, but that wasn't bad.) Austin handled my anal, work-aholic dad like a pro. We got everything out of the truck and into storage in just under 2 hours! It was amazing, seeing that it was just Austin, my parents and me! We celebrated with a dip in the pool, and then a nice home cooked country meal at Cracker Barrel. mmm.

I'm not looking forward to moving that stuff out of storage some day.
